Two
semi-talented bored guys, $10,000 worth of
someone else's recording gear, $20 in cash, a
full tank of gas and a night with nothing to do.
Rob Nassif and Steve Digre head out to the rehearsal
space of a friends current band. We basically
raided their practice session and insisted on
recording time.
The
results,
the first installment of Ratts Come A Runnin'.
Recorded live in the studio one fall
evening.
The
session really came out of the desire to record a heavy
metal version of Suicide Is Painless (the
M*A*S*H theme song). Rob had a grand vision,
Steve saw that vision and closed his eyes. Loa and behold, at the end
of the night, there we were was enough
material to release a record.
So we did.
A band was formed, though we never played live,
we were still a band. Rob Nassif and Steve Digre
wielded a power structure from high a top a pile
of self proclaimed greatness. R.C.A.R. was a
huge success. Rob and Steve are forever in debt
to the actual talent that performed our visions
and helped us to realize our dreams.
One
month later, we hosted a record release party.
We sold many records that night, each of which
included a free stick of gum
with every purchase, the fruit stripped gum
kind, not that Wrigley's shit.
After
our first release party success we decided to
put the record out of print and leave the whole
mess behind us. There are 112 copies of the
record our there in the world. A true collectors
item.
