This

shame. |

Hot off of R.C.A.R. Session I, Rob and Steve decided to explore new frontiers. Frankly, we decided to really try this time. Discussions of rehearsals and song writing were even had, though I don't remember actually having any rehearsals or sitting down to write a single tune. Non the-less, we were serious this time. It may have been live/improve in the studio, but it was going to be good.
Recording this record was the very definition of fun. Creative spirits where in full bloom. Rob was out of his head with ideas. He went nuts on his "special" visions. Not sure what makes him tick, but he is just brilliant with insanity. Caged heat or something like that. Everyday he came in with some new wild idea he had.
So, seeing where we were headed, we surrounded ourselves with incredible musicians and just let the moments rise. No filters, no plans, just unbridled creativity. We’d have instruments laying everywhere and various microphones in the room. We’d all grab something and go. I look back and remember the laughter and gut busting moments. There were so many. Oh if I could only share with you the outtakes.
We ended up with about 4 hours of decent material. Of which, I pared down into 90 minutes that kind of made sense together. I had access to one of the first digital computer workstations, the Dyaxis, it was the perfect tool for me to get my vision across. I was able to piece together the music bits, intertwined with others and incorporate answering machine messages that I had saved over the last year.
As far as picking tracks to highlight here on this site, frankly it is an impossible task.
We sold a respectable number of copies and actually had some real interest in the record. A few of these tunes were regularly played at a local nightclub. To sit and watch as 100s of unsuspecting people dance through the segue from Metallica into us, a priceless moment. Life was good.
