Living In B.F.E. (Cairo, Egypt)

The Trip

Some reading material while the pictures load below.

A rented car and six hours to Chicago. The car was unloaded on 100 degree asphalt parking before we proceed to check in. Toting 10 bags, they felt like 100. After check-in we waited in the airport with Peach in the gate area before sending her on the plane. Eight hours later we landed in Zurich, Switzerland, where we spent the night. Within 36 hours we landed in Cairo and we were escorted through customs by the school administration. A very smooth transition. The Cairo luggage area was complete chaos.

Mom and Dad walking Peach (the dog) the morning we left.

Peaches trip.

Peach on her first escalator ride at the Zurich Airport, she did not enjoy this experience. You should have seen her try and get on. Hilarious.

The Zurich Airport: we made quite a scene as we wandered around for 3 hours. To the right of this picture is one of those huge carts that they tow luggage to the planes with. Those suckers are hard to pull around and even harder to stop once you get moving. I would like to apologize to the Frenchmen and hope your foot is feeling better.

Peach at the Zurich Open Air Market.

Peach at breakfast in Zurich. She was not allowed to eat outside. So she ate inside with us.

Zurich

Our first glimpse of Cairo.
The city starts to unfold, about 10 minutes by jet before we even reach the center of the city.
Both of us were, blown away... it's huge!

A city of over 22,000,000.
The second largest city in the world.

After things had quieted down at the airport.
I wish I had a picture of the chaos 20 minutes prior to this, oh my!

The CAC Luggage train.
All CAC employees were met and escorted through and out of the airport.
This is a train of about, 30 people each pushing their own carts overflowing with personal items.

A school bus loaded to the hilt with everyone's luggage.
Actually there were 3 or more busses loaded.
