Some reading material while the pictures load below.

Ramadan recently ended. We are now back into the normal swing of things. We were fortunate to share Iftar (breaking fast) with our building Bowabs one evening. We pulled up a cardboard box, sat on the ground and went to it. About 8 of us in all, with some new friends exchanged words and customs.

I will miss Ramadan. The streets were absolutely clear between 5-6pm. Great time to get downtown or for bike riding. The "Ramadan Prayer Calls," were quite lovely. The drummers that go through the street in the early hours to wake those for pre-dawn meals (4am ish) will be missed as well.

Steve turned 35 and in an unrelated event, has switched live music venues. Finally some local artists to jam and play with -- count, one Canadian, one Euro, and two Egyptians. Now that's variety. Steve played a Christmas concert at a local coffee shop with Renee' (actually she did most of the playing). Steve is gigging twice a week at an Egyptian she'sha bar. It's a 2 block walk where Steve has to leave just 5 minutes before a gig. Definitely pay back for all of those drives between Rochester and Minneapolis.

Peach is well. She was attacked and bit in the bum, (by a street dog) but we got to meet the vet. Peach also has a new friend, in addition to the birds which she hates, Lana's new pup Bug. They do love each other.

Happy Holidays from Egypt! -- P.S.C.

Steve and Peach modeling the new Gold Couches. Yes, we willingly picked the fabric.

We are looking for ideas for paint.

Peach's new friend Bug. We baby sat Bug for a weekend. Cute dog, appropriately named.

Cuba Cabana

Steve's new Saturday gig (your Sunday equivalent) outside at the Cuba Cabana.

There are gold fish swimming behind my area. (under the glass walkway/ramp thing)

Steve's Thursday night gig at the Cuba Cabana (your Friday night).

It's a large L shaped room, of which I am in the corner of. The room is full of covered couches all set to a 60 degree chill tilt.

It's an Egyptian hang, dry bar (no booze), she-sha tobacco, tea and great food. Very enthusiastic crowd, they actually listen.

The glass stage at Cuba Cabana. This is the reason I am sitting at this gig. I am afraid of heights and this stage is glass and goes down 5 feet to a bunch of plants and flowers and such.

Please see photo to the left and text illustrations for reference to my fear of heights and this funky stage.

Christmas Concerts

Christmas concert in the big city. She's on the left.

The Steve & Renee Christmas sing along at a local coffee shop. Actually, it ended up the Renee's sing along and Steve basically just twiddled about. No I didn't rehearse enough.

More Flat 26

Steve building a Crystal Clock radio for a 6th grade subbing gig the next day. (no, the radio did not work)

Halloween watermelons courtesy of ladies night. (A Sex in the City HBO watching, wine, dinner girl night party thing....? ? I don't know, I don't ask.)

Steve working next to his new Zebra finches.

Finally, a Cairo Holiday Sunset

This is pretty much what Peach and I watch almost everyday, we make sure we take the time.

We sit back, take it in and think of home, family and friends.

peace!
