Some
reading material while the pictures load below.
Ramadan
recently ended. We are now back into the normal swing of things.
We were fortunate to share Iftar (breaking fast) with our
building Bowabs one evening. We pulled up a cardboard box, sat
on the ground and went to it. About 8 of us in all, with some new friends exchanged words and customs.
I will miss Ramadan. The streets were absolutely clear between
5-6pm. Great time to get downtown or for bike riding. The "Ramadan Prayer Calls," were
quite lovely. The drummers that go
through the street in the early hours to wake those for
pre-dawn meals (4am ish) will be missed as well.
Steve
turned 35 and in an unrelated event, has switched live music venues.
Finally some
local artists to jam and play with -- count,
one Canadian, one Euro, and two Egyptians. Now that's variety.
Steve played a Christmas concert at a local coffee shop with
Renee' (actually she did most of the playing). Steve is gigging twice a week at an Egyptian
she'sha bar. It's a 2 block walk where Steve
has to leave just 5 minutes before a gig. Definitely pay back
for all of those drives between Rochester and Minneapolis.
Peach is
well. She was attacked and bit in the bum, (by a street dog)
but we
got to meet the vet. Peach also has a new friend, in
addition to the birds which she hates, Lana's new pup Bug.
They do love each other.
Happy
Holidays from Egypt! -- P.S.C.
